American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a NICU position requiring 2 years of Level 4 (or strong Level 3 surgical) experience and an active California RN license.

• Work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a Level 1 trauma, Magnet-recognized teaching hospital with 60 staffed beds
• Care for critically ill neonates, including surgical and cardiac cases
• Shifts available as variable day/night or straight nights, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
• Must be available to work weekends with full scheduling flexibility
• Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays:
  Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• No on-call requirements
• Float within scope of practice to PICU, CTICU/CVICU, and Med Surg
• May float to NICU satellite campuses including Rancho Springs, Palomar, Scripps Encinitas, Scripps La Jolla, and Scripps Mercy
• Uses Epic for charting
• Uses oscillator and conventional ventilators, CPAP, nasal cannula specialty gases, PICC lines, Broviacs, UAC/UVC/PAL lines, trachs, ostomies, and G-tubes
• No block scheduling accommodations available

• Active California RN license required in hand, or acceptable ETA of licensure posting
• BLS certification required
• Advanced NRP certification required
• PALS certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of recent Level 4 NICU experience required
• Strong Level 3 NICU surgical experience considered in lieu of Level 4 experience, provided the unit performs surgeries on newborns
• Cardiac experience required
• Experience with line changes involving multiple drips and pre/post-operative care required
• Experience attending high-risk deliveries preferred
• Must have own transportation for potential float assignments to satellite locations
• First-time travelers considered if they have Level 4 NICU experience

• Provide comprehensive neonatal intensive care including ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), IV therapy, central/implanted line care, and IV vasopressor administration
• Care for neonates with gastrointestinal conditions including gastroschisis/omphalocele and provide post-abdominal surgical care
• Any scrub color permitted
• Facility is recognized as a Top 10 Best Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report, Magnet Recognized, Beacon Award for Excellence, and Great Place to Work Certified
• Maximum requested time off (RTO) is 6 days
• Local candidates not accepted; candidates living within 50 miles of the facility are considered local
• Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
• Free traveler parking provided
