Travel Nurse RN – Operating Room
Location: Facility, San Diego, California
Employment Type: Travel
Start Date: 06/29/2026
Duration: 13 weeks
Hours: 36 per week (12‑hour days)
Responsibilities- Prepare the operating room, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies are ready and functional.
- Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery, addressing concerns and ensuring comfort and safety.
- Maintain a sterile field throughout procedures and adhere to infection control protocols.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, providing instruments, supplies, and support promptly.
- Monitor the patient's condition during surgery, document significant changes, and notify the surgeon.
- Handle surgical instruments and supplies, ensuring proper use, sterilization, and disposal per protocol.
- Manage specimen collection, labeling, and transport in accordance with facility protocols.
- Document all aspects of patient care accurately and thoroughly.
- Participate in handoff communication during pre‑ and post‑operative phases.
- Assist in cleaning and restocking the operating room between cases, following infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
- Follow safety rules and procedures, including proper use of PPE and infection prevention measures.
- Perform other duties as assigned within scope of practice.
- One year of recent experience as an Operating Room RN.
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations.
- Current BLS certification (AHA/ARC).
- ACLS, PALS, or ENPC certifications.
- OR Nursing Certification (CNOR).
- Other certifications or licenses may be required.
- Critical thinking, self‑service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
- Proficient reading, writing, and oral English communication.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and proficiency in PC skills.
- Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50‑100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
- Interpersonal skill to work effectively with diverse personnel.
- Technical/motor skill for manipulation, propelling, and self‑movement during procedures.
- Mental resilience under high pressure and irregular activity schedules.
- Sensory, visual acuity, and communication proficiency.
