American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Level 3 NICU position requiring 3+ years of NICU experience and a CA RN license.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required (in hand or with confirmed ETA from licensing board)
- Current BLS and NRP certifications required
- Minimum 3 years of NICU Level 3 or higher experience required
- Epic charting experience required
- Delivery hospital experience preferred
- Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, central line care, UAC/UVC management, and neonatal dosage calculations
- Experience with ventilator management (AC/PC/SIMV/CPAP/BIPAP/PEEP), high frequency ventilation, and oscillators
- Experience with therapeutic hypothermia, APGAR scoring, and high-risk delivery attendance
- Work in a Level 3 NICU within a Children's Hospital setting
- Care for neonatal patients across gestational ages, including 34 weeks
- Patient ratio of 1:2-3
- Uses Epic for charting
- Variable Day/Night 3x12 hour shifts (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
- Must be available to work weekends with full flexibility, potentially 3 out of 4 weekends in a 4-week period
- No on-call requirements
- Required to float within the NICU to sister facilities including Rady Main Campus, Scripps Encinitas, Rancho Springs, Palomar, and Scripps Mercy
- Mid-shift floating may occasionally be required
- Will not float outside of NICU scope to other units
- Care for critically ill neonates including conditions such as respiratory distress syndrome, neonatal sepsis, and necrotizing enterocolitis
- Provide developmental care and support patient/family teaching including breastfeeding support
- Assist with procedures such as lumbar puncture and management of chest tubes
- Facility is a Magnet-designated, Teaching Hospital and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center
- Scrubs of any color permitted
- Free traveler parking available
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (including Eves), with Christmas required and either New Year's or Thanksgiving off
- Maximum RTO of 6 days
- First-time travelers accepted if candidate has strong NICU experience
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Mileage reimbursement provided at IRS standard rate when floating to non-home-base facilities
- Former permanent staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Clinicians who are DNR status with CHOC will not be considered due to facility merger with Rady Children's Health
