American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Pediatric ICU position requiring a CA RN license and 2 years of recent independent PICU experience.
Requirements- Active CA RN license required (in hand, or with a confirmed ETA for licensure)
- Current BLS and PALS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of recent, independent PICU experience within the last year (orientation time excluded)
- Experience in at least a 10-bed PICU unit required
- Level I trauma experience required;
Level II trauma experience preferred - Experience with CVP and ICP monitoring required
- Skilled in ventilator management, care of ventilated patients, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
- Experience with arterial line management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and central venous pressure monitoring
- External ventricular drain (EVD) experience preferred
- At least 1 prior travel assignment preferred, though strong first-time travelers will be considered
- High acuity PICU at a Level 1 trauma teaching hospital
- Unit is at least a 10-bed PICU treating injury, respiratory failure, shock, multi-system failure, poisonings, near drowning, meningitis, post-op cardiac surgical care, and neurosurgery
- Patient ratio ranges from 1:1 to 1:2
- Variable day/night or straight night shifts, 3x12 hour schedule (7:00-19:00 or 19:00-7:00)
- Days require 4 weekend shifts (Sat/Sun); nights require 5 weekend shifts (Fri/Sat), with one full weekend off per 4-week schedule
- No on-call responsibilities
- Floating required within scope to sister units (CVPICU & NICU)
- Uses Epic charting system
- Any scrub color permitted
- Functions at the Standard Level of nursing practice within a nationally recognized, Magnet-designated children's hospital
- Facility has received Beacon Award for Excellence and is Great Place to Work Certified
- Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves):
Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's, with no holiday time off approved - Maximum RTO of 7 days, with a minimum of 3 shifts required during that week
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- First-time travelers may be considered, especially with strong PICU experience
- Former permanent staff must be separated from employment for at least 1 year before becoming eligible to travel
- Travelers who reach their one-year mark at this facility or its sister facility must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
