DescriptionAmerican Traveler is seeking a Pediatric ED RN for a Level I Trauma Center children's hospital, requiring 2+ years of dedicated pediatric ED experience and a California RN license.
Details- Work in a segmented Pediatric Emergency Department at a Level I Trauma children's hospital
- 57 staffed beds at the facility
- Shift options include variable 3x12 D/N or 5x8s alternating with 4x8s nights (20:00-04:00), totaling 72 hours per pay period
- Variable shift scheduling means assignment across any of 7 shift patterns based on facility needs, though not mixed day/night in the same stretch
- Blocked scheduling can be requested
- Must be available to work weekends with full flexibility
- Must work 2 of 3 major holidays including holiday eves
- No on-call requirements
- No floating required within the facility or to sister facilities
- Uses Epic for charting
- Modules required pre-start (up to 10 hours, non-billable)
- Active California RN license required (in hand or with an ETA for licensure)
- BLS and PALS certifications required
- CPEN, TCRN, CEN, ENPC, and de-escalation training are preferred certifications
- Minimum 2 years of recent experience in a segmented Pediatric ED or Children’s Hospital required
- Experience with computerized charting required, Epic preferred
- Experience with triage, IV starts, telemetry, and conscious sedation required
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs and straight catheterization across all age groups required
- Level I and II Trauma Center experience preferred
- Teaching hospital experience preferred
- Flu shot required
- At least one supervisor/manager reference required for consideration
- Provide emergency nursing care to pediatric patients in a nationally recognized children’s hospital
- Facility is Magnet recognized, a Beacon Award recipient, a teaching facility, and a Level I Trauma Center
- Named one of the Top 10 Best Children’s Hospitals in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report
- Scrub top and bottom required in any color
- Free traveler parking available
- Maximum of 6 days RTO, which must be confirmed upfront at time of consideration
- First-time travelers are accepted
- Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
- Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
- Travelers who reach their 1-year mark at this facility or its sister facility must wait 90 days before returning as a traveler
- 13 or 26 week assignment lengths accepted
