Job SummaryThe Senior Quality Inspector Technician will perform visual, mechanical, dimensional, functional, or electrical inspection of raw materials, parts, assemblies, and final products in the receiving or product assembly process. The position rotates with other Quality Inspectors/Technicians across the manufacturing process, completes inspections, reports, and required documentation, and reports directly to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect parts against engineering drawings, customer purchase orders, manufacturer specifications, and industry standards.
- Perform inspections to engineering requirements specified by ANSI Y14.5 Standards, Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T), or equivalent standards.
- Provide quality support for production on‑floor quality issues related to PCBA assemblies, sheet metal, and other mechanical parts.
- Support aerospace and other customer requirements during production.
- Carry out assigned QA functions in compliance with quality policy and regulatory requirements.
- Document product inspections using the Ametek Inspection database and procedures.
- Assist QEs with equipment calibration and segregation.
- Handle First Article, MRB (Material Review Board), Incoming Inspection Activities, and Final Product inspections with corresponding MRB transactions.
- Support new quality initiatives and continuous improvements.
- Manage Gage Pack software to track internal tool verification.
- Technical associates degree or equivalent experience.
- Five or more years of experience in test and inspection in a manufacturing or production environment.
- Legal right to work in the U.S. and authorization to access export‑controlled information and source code.
- Experience working with metals, electrical, mechanical, and electro‑mechanical components and products.
- Proficiency with mechanical inspection tools (micrometers, calipers, test equipment, magnifying instruments).
- Experience inspecting electronic components, systems, and mechanical parts.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, simple electronic schematics, and purchase orders.
- Capability to create and write processes and procedures.
- Data gathering and analysis skills.
- Multitasking, prioritization, and decision‑making ability.
- Previous aerospace and defense industry experience.
- Knowledge of power supplies and/or data acquisition systems.
- IPC 610 and IPC 620 certifications.
- First Article inspection experience and familiarity with industry standards such as IPC‑A‑610.
- Experience with ERP systems/material transactions.
- Experience performing final product quality inspections.
- Demonstrated credibility, trust, and support within an organization.
- Basic user knowledge of Oracle ERP systems.

This role is based in San Diego, California.
CompensationHourly. Salary range: $55,000–$70,000 USD. No incentive compensation.
