Lab Technician

The Lab Technician supports high-volume laboratory testing operations in a fast-paced, production-style environment by performing repeatable wet lab tests, preparing buffer solutions, maintaining controlled test conditions, and documenting results with a high degree of accuracy and consistency. This role focuses on executing detailed procedures across a wide range of test methods to support product development and clinical applications, while adhering strictly to standard operating procedures and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and execute buffer tests and wet lab experiments under controlled laboratory conditions, following established standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Perform wet lab testing such as drift and linearity testing, ensuring repeatability and consistency across high-throughput test runs.
  • Prepare buffer solutions and maintain stable, controlled testing environments to support accurate and reliable results.
  • Use appropriate lab glassware and measurement tools to prepare solutions and conduct tests with precision.
  • Conduct visual inspection and imaging of components, meeting daily output expectations aligned with statistical testing requirements.
  • Document all test procedures, observations, and results thoroughly to ensure traceability and support data integrity.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, instruments, and supplies in good working order, reporting issues and supporting routine upkeep.
  • Support data entry activities, including handling large datasets and structured data input, to maintain accurate records.
  • Adhere strictly to SOPs, lab safety practices, and quality control standards to minimize errors and avoid costly rework.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering, to support ongoing testing needs.
  • Work within a fast-paced, high mix, high volume testing lab environment and follow a structured daily workflow tied to multiple testing procedures.

Essential Skills

  • Hands-on wet lab experience in a structured, real-world laboratory environment, beyond purely academic exposure; long-term internship experience may be considered.
  • Proficiency in buffer preparation and solution prep, including accurate measurement and use of laboratory glassware.
  • Strong understanding of wet chemistry techniques and controlled testing environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow detailed SOPs with a process-driven mindset and strong focus on quality and consistency.
  • Solid grasp of laboratory safety practices and ability to maintain a safety-first approach in daily work.
  • Experience performing drift or linearity testing in a laboratory setting.
  • Experience supporting validation or qualification testing activities.
  • Expirience in high-throughput or production-style lab operations.
  • Visual inspection or imaging experience for components or test articles.
  • Experience working with large datasets or structured data entry.
  • Exposure to regulated environments such as GMP or ISO-compliant labs.
  • Basic proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Office for data entry and documentation.
  • Attention to detail and strong accuracy in testing, measurement, and documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with GMP laboratory practices and quality control environments.
  • Familiarity with ISO-regulated testing processes.
  • Comfort working with approximately 100 different testing procedures in a process-driven setting.
  • Ability to meet daily output expectations tied to statistical testing requirements while maintaining quality.
  • Interest in medical device or biotech industries and willingness to learn industry-specific testing standards.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and scientists and contribute to product improvement efforts.
  • Willingness to participate in a structured training and ramp-up program with clear performance expectations.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
