Company Overview
Vividion is a next generation biotechnology company based in San Diego that is leveraging its proprietary chemical proteomics platform to conduct proteome-wide foot printing of drug‑protein interactions with unprecedented breadth and precision. Our technology allows us to screen, identify and optimize novel drugs that selectively bind virtually any protein, including proteins previously considered “undruggable”. Our pipeline and emerging programs reflect a matured and productive platform capable of delivering first‑in‑class drugs utilizing novel mechanisms of action (allosteric inhibitors, protein‑protein interaction inhibitors, functional activators, degraders, etc.)
against undruggable targets in the oncology and immunology space.
We prize scientific excellence, creativity, team players and we are committed to continued innovation. We have worked hard to create a collaborative and dynamic work culture where your ideas and discoveries are valued and will have an impact. We are growing and there are opportunities for mentorship and career progression.
Vividion has been recognized as a Top Workplace by The San Diego Union‑Tribune from 2022 to 2025.
Job SummaryWe are currently seeking a Senior or Principal Scientist level Computational Chemist to join our fast‑paced computational chemistry department. The exact level will depend on years of experience and track record. This role will be responsible for supporting drug discovery efforts across several programs at various lead optimization stages by applying structure and ligand‑based CADD methods. By working closely with medicinal chemists to design new analogs for subsequent synthesis, this scientist will intellectually contribute to multiple programs to advance chemical matter across various protein targets.
A successful candidate will become an essential member of the drug discovery team lying their expert knowledge, they will provide insights to guide the design of new drugs and creatively implement computational methods to improve the efficacy of drug design. They will be able to balance a diverse number of projects adjusting priorities based on strategic need.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Work as an integrated member of project teams providing computational chemistry support.
- Apply cutting‑edge structure and ligand‑based CADD methods to identify and evaluate novel chemical matter with medical chemists.
- Keep current in CADD methods while integrating and developing new approaches based on the project's needs.
- Work with IT to maintain and expand computing resources.
- Report and present work to project teams and the broader company, including education on computational methods.
- Ph.D. in computational chemistry, molecular modeling or related fields with 4+ years of relevant post‑graduate industry experience in drug discovery.
- A record of success supporting drug discovery efforts demonstrated through publication or patents.
- Expertise in commercial modeling and cheminformatic software (Maestro Suite/Schrodinger, MOE/CCG, Orion/Open Eye Scientific, Cresset, RDKit, Pipeline Pilot/Biovia, etc.).
- Experience with a diversity of computational methods, including but not limited to docking, MD, free energy of binding methods, homology modeling, QSAR, pharmacophore modeling, QM methods, and cheminformatics.
