Overview

Enqu Bio is a technology-driven discovery and contract research organization (CRO) based in San Diego, providing biology-focused preclinical drug discovery services. We partner with biopharmaceutical companies to accelerate the development of innovative therapeutics across multiple disease areas. As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a highly motivated Senior Scientist to join our expanding In Vivo Pharmacology team.

The Senior Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology will serve as a scientific leader within the group, leading complex client programs and internal initiatives, driving strategic decision-making, and mentoring junior scientists. This role requires deep expertise in rodent pharmacology, a strong experience in oncology, immunology, or other relevant disease models, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced CRO environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate scientific excellence, strong cross‑functional leadership, problem‑solving capabilities, and a highly client-focused approach.

Responsibilities
  • Independently lead and oversee complex in vivo pharmacology programs, serving as the primary scientific owner from program initiation through final deliverable.
  • Partner with the Group Lead and scientific directors to define study strategies, prioritize resources, and align program execution with client and business objectives.
  • Drive scientific decision‑making on study design, model selection, dosing strategies, and data interpretation, while exercising independent judgment on complex or ambiguous challenges.
  • Serve as a primary scientific contact for clients, leading scientific discussions, presenting data, providing technical guidance, and supporting long‑term partnerships.
  • Support business development through proposal development, capability presentations, and scientific consultations with prospective clients.
  • Author and review study protocols, reports, and scientific summaries to ensure accuracy, clarity, and high scientific quality.
  • Oversee all phases of in vivo study execution, including protocol review, in‑life procedures, data analysis, interpretation, and study report preparation.
  • Anticipate, identify, and resolve complex technical and operational challenges to maintain study quality, data integrity, and project timelines.
  • Provide scientific leadership, mentorship, and hands‑on technical guidance to Scientists and Research Associates, elevating team capability and performance.
  • Lead the development, validation, and implementation of new in vivo disease models and research capabilities to expand Enqu Bio’s scientific offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with in vitro and ex vivo teams to design integrated study platforms and deliver cohesive translational insights.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge‑sharing, SOP development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure all studies comply with IACUC requirements, applicable SOPs, and animal welfare regulations, and maintain thorough and accurate study documentation.
Qualifications
  • PhD or MD in pharmacology, immunology, biology, or a related life science discipline with 3+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience; or MS with 6+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Extensive hands‑on experience with rodent models and in vivo pharmacology techniques is required.
  • Strong expertise in oncology, immunology, or metabolic disease models is preferred.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading complex, multi‑study programs in a CRO or pharmaceutical/biotech industry environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross‑functional scientific teams and manage multiple programs simultaneously with a high degree of independence.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem‑solving capabilities, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and drive programs forward.
  • Exceptional scientific communication skills, both written and verbal, including presenting complex data to client and internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail and commitment to data integrity.
  • Collaborative, proactive, and solutions‑oriented mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
Physical Requirements
  • Work with laboratory animals, biohazardous materials, and chemicals in compliance with applicable safety standards.
  • Perform routine laboratory and in vivo study procedures, including handling biological samples and research materials.
  • Wear required PPE including gloves, lab coat, respirator, and eye/face protection.
  • Stand, sit, and walk for extended periods; crouch, bend, twist, and reach as needed; perform tasks involving repetitive motions.
  • Routinely lift, push, or pull up to 10 lbs.
  • Work under standard laboratory and vivarium environmental conditions.
  • Possess visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed laboratory work and data review.
