Job Title:
Virology/Molecular Biology Postdoctoral Research Fellow
Job Number:137397
Location:San Diego, US
Job DescriptionPostdoctoral Position – Host–Pathogen Interactions, Molecular Virology
The Raju Lab at UC San Diego seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to investigate how viruses engage the mammalian immune system. Our group studies host–pathogen interactions with a focus on the molecular basis of virus entry and replication using emerging RNA viruses as model systems.
Projects integrate molecular virology, immunology, and structural biology to define viral determinants of host range, dissect B cell and antibody responses, and map virus–receptor or virus–antibody interfaces. Approaches include reverse genetics, reporter virus systems, high-dimensional flow cytometry, single-cell and repertoire sequencing, and cryo-EM collaborations.
Qualifications- Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Virology, Immunology, or related field.
- Experience with cell culture, virologic analyses, and flow cytometry is preferred.
- Experience in next-generation sequencing, library-based analysis, and CRISPR-screening is preferred.
- Strong record of productivity and enthusiasm for mechanistic science.
UCSD offers exceptional resources for molecular virology and immunology, with access to BSL-2 facilities, Cytek spectral flow cytometry, structural biology, and proteomics cores. The lab emphasizes rigorous, creative, and collaborative science with individualized mentorship and career development.
