Rayze Bio is a dynamic biotechnology company headquartered in San Diego, California, United States. Rayze Bio is developing innovative drugs against targets of solid tumors. The lead asset, RYZ
101, is in Phase 3 testing for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP‑NETs), as well as earlier‑stage testing for patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Rayze Bio is looking for a Senior Associate Scientist II to support the development of novel therapeutics in preclinical stages. Candidates will work as part of a team of scientists to synthesize and design both small molecules and peptide analogs to optimize potency, pharmacokinetics, and in vivo efficacy of potential drug candidates. • Executing multi‑step synthetic routes, optimizing reaction conditions, isolation, and characterization of organic compounds (chromatography, NMR, MS, IR spectroscopy).
• Collaborating effectively with colleagues across diverse disciplines.
• Documenting research activities and presenting findings clearly.
• Executing experimental plans, troubleshooting synthetic challenges and contributing to the optimization of lead compounds.

• BS or MS in Chemistry or related field with strong understanding of organic and analytical chemistry.
• 5+ years’ experience in an organic synthesis, chemistry, or analytical laboratory preferred.

• Strong synthetic skills and knowledge of lab techniques.
• Proficiency in compound synthesis techniques, compound purification, and characterization methods such as LCMS, HPLC and NMR.
• Familiarity with scientific software such as Chem Draw, Scifinder, and Reaxys.
• Adaptable and flexible, able to handle multiple demands and shifting priorities.
• Self‑motivated with good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Adept in documenting and presenting findings clearly through laboratory notebook, reports, and presentations.
• Expertise in synthetic organic chemistry, with experience synthesizing peptides a plus.

The employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. This position requires working in a laboratory environment; protective clothing, gloves and safety glasses are required while working with radioactive materials.
