Position title: Specialist, Project Scientist or Research Scientist
Salary range: A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is based on the academic series under which the candidate is appointed. The posted  UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay determined by rank and/or step  salary range for each series are:

Specialist: $57,000 - $201,700

Project Scientist: $79,400 - $209,000

Research Scientist: $96,700 - $257,100

Position description

The Department of Neurosciences at the University of California San Diego is committed to academic excellence among its faculty, staff, and student body. We invite applications for Specialist, Project Scientist, and Research Scientist positions at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank.

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, the selected candidates will function with varying degrees of independence depending on the appointment series.

Responsibilities include:

• Designing, managing, and/or conducting experiments;
• Training, mentoring, and teaching in a research setting to students and others in the field;
• Leading and/or contributing innovative and significant efforts to the project(s);
• Participating in and/or presenting at scientific meetings;
• Writing and/or contributing to scientific reports, manuscripts, and grant proposals for submission and/or publication.

Appointment level/rank will be based on background and experience.

Qualifications

Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Candidates must have a PhD or MD/PhD in Neurosciences, basic sciences, or related health disciplines, or an MD or equivalent.
