Role Description The Computational Postdoctoral Fellow will conduct advanced research in computational methods and applications, collaborating closely with faculty, graduate students, and interdisciplinary teams. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing and implementing computational models, analyzing large and complex datasets, preparing manuscripts for publication, and contributing to grant proposals and reports. The Fellow will present findings at group meetings, seminars, and conferences, and may mentor students or assist with the supervision of research assistants.

This is a full-time, on-site role based in San Diego, CA, requiring regular presence on campus for collaboration, access to facilities, and participation in the broader research community.
Qualifications

  • Strong background in computational science, data analysis, or related quantitative fields, with experience developing and applying computational models.
  • Proficiency in relevant programming languages (e.g., Python, R, MATLAB, C/C++) and familiarity with version control and collaborative coding practices.
  • Experience with high-performance computing, cloud or cluster environments, and efficient handling of large-scale or complex datasets.
  • Demonstrated ability to design research studies, interpret results, and communicate findings clearly through publications and presentations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capacity to work both independently and as part of interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (e.g., computer science, engineering, mathematics, physics, biology, or related field) completed or near completion at the time of appointment.
  • Prior peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, or other evidence of research productivity; experience mentoring students is a plus.
