Position: Neta Lab Technician (Instructional Support Technician I)

Position Summary

The Neta Lab Technician plays a key role in supporting innovative psychology and behavioral science research within Dr. Neta’s research program. This position provides hands‑on technical and operational support for multiple research studies by coordinating participant recruitment, managing research data, and ensuring compliance with Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements. Working closely with faculty, students, and research staff, the role helps maintain the smooth operation of research projects while supporting high‑quality, ethical human subjects research.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate participant recruitment, scheduling, and study logistics while supporting multiple research projects and maintaining project timelines.
  • Manage IRB processes, including protocol submissions, amendments, continuing reviews, and regulatory documentation for human subjects research.
  • Organize, maintain, and secure research data, participant records, and study documentation in compliance with confidentiality and data security standards.
  • Prepare research materials, consent forms, study supplies, and other resources needed to support ongoing behavioral research activities.
  • Collaborate with faculty, graduate students, undergraduate researchers, and community partners to support research operations and project success.

Position Information

  • This is a full‑time (1.0 time‑base), benefits eligible, temporary position with an anticipated end date of six months and one day of hire date, with the possibility of reappointment.
  • This position is designated non‑exempt under FLSA and is eligible for overtime compensation.
  • Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.
  • The individual hired into this role will work on campus at SDSU in San Diego.

Department Summary

The Department of Psychology at San Diego State University (SDSU) is one of the largest academic departments on campus and plays a central role in supporting undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral education in the behavioral sciences. Among the joint doctoral programs in which SDSU participates, the SDSU–UC San Diego (UCSD) Joint Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology (JDP) is the largest and most established.

The JDP is a collaborative program between SDSU and UCSD that provides advanced training in clinical psychology through integrated instruction, research, and clinical practice.

The program includes active participation from more than 170 faculty members across the SDSU Department of Psychology, the SDSU School of Public Health, and the UCSD Department of Psychiatry within the School of Medicine. The program has produced more than 360 alumni and currently enrolls approximately 77 doctoral students. Each year, the program receives approximately 700 applications for approximately 12 available admission slots.

Students are admitted into one of three specialized training tracks, and both faculty and students are affiliated with these tracks as part of the program’s training structure.
