Labcorp is seeking a Noninvasive Prenatal Diagnostics Intern to join our Research and Development Team located in San Diego, CA!
Work Schedule:
Monday-Friday / 40hrs per week
- Develop cutting edge noninvasive prenatal diagnostic tests.
- Become familiar with statistical programs to analyze and visualize data.
- Extract valuable insights for informed decision making.
- Develop a wide variety of technical skills, potentially including multiplex PCR, digital PCR, mass spectrometry, short and/or long-read sequencing.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Systems Biology, Biochemistry or Biomedical Engineering
- 3-6 months experience working with nucleic acids, proteins, and PCR
- 3-6 months experience and/or knowledge of next-generation sequencing technology
- Eagerness to learn new laboratory skills and scientific concepts
- Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
- Have a genuine interest in laboratory science
- Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
- Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
- Actively participates in training sessions and applies newly learned skills accordingly
- Good laboratory practice and documentation.
- Embraces diverse ways of thinking through various forms of collaboration and partnership.

The Labcorp Diagnostics Research and Development team focusses on developing and improving laboratory tests for various diagnostic purposes such as oncology, genetics, and infectious disease. The team at the Labcorp-Sequenom site in San Diego primarily works with cell-free DNA for non-invasive prenatal screening. You will have the opportunity to work under the supervision of the R&D team and closely with the clinical lab.
