Semicon Bio, Inc. located in San Diego is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate / Senior Research Associate with an understanding of semiconductor behavior and experience in semiconductor materials processing and property evaluations to join our R&D team for feasibility studies of advanced sensors.
In-depth knowledge or hands-on experiences in semiconductor thin film processing, as well as characterization of physical and electronic properties are desirable. Exposure to field effect transistor (FET) behavior and related characterizations including microscopy, surface compositional analysis, and I-V curve behavior including output and transfer characteristics will be beneficial.
This position offers an opportunity to participate in the development of new novel semiconductor materials and structures suitable for various transistor and bio-detector applications, with intentional manipulation of bulk and surface physical/electrical behavior to enable highly enhanced sensing capabilities. The effort aims for eventual sensor applications for molecular diagnostics, life sciences R&D, and environmental monitoring.
Responsibilities- Process advanced semiconductor thin films (including 2D TMD materials) to optimize their composition and microstructures.
- Characterize material structures using various microscopy tools to optimize processing and configurations for desirable physical and electronic properties.
- Participate in the design and construction of wearable sensors and remote sensing circuits.
- Assemble advanced R&D tooling and microfluidic biosensor platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or other related scientific disciplines, desirably with 1+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong hands-on experience in semiconductor thin film materials.
- Experience in electronic device and circuit constructions.
- Innovative problem solver with a passion for advancing cutting-edge semiconductor materials and sensor technologies.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced R&D environment.
- Self-motivated with a continuous learning mindset.
The anticipated base salary range for this position is $75, annually. Final title and compensation will be determined based on education, years of relevant experience, hands-on electrochemistry experience and biosensor/assay-development experience.
