Research Associate, Analytical Chemistry

Quantitative Bio Sciences, Inc. (QBI) is a small biotech company based in San Diego working on novel methods of pharmaceutical deformulation. We are looking for a highly motivated research associate to rapidly integrate with our team to assist with day-to-day experiments related to developing and testing our technology. Experience with independent experimental design and execution is required. Strong laboratory experience in chemistry and/or biochemistry is essential, with proteomics experience highly desired.

• Sample preparation of organic compounds from complex environmental or biological samples.
• Create calibration standards, test solutions, buffers and reagents.
• Prepare complex samples for LC-MS and GC-MS analysis.
• Experimental design experience - ability to think through problems and design experiments independently.
• Design, optimize and validate new analytical testing procedures.
  
  Specifically extracting novel biomolecules from complex or dirty samples.
• Contribute to the organization and cleanliness of the laboratory
• Present results at internal scientific meetings

• B.S. in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or a related field with 3-4 years of hands-on laboratory experience.
• Experience with LC-MS and GC-MS sample submission and data organization.
• Experience in a wet lab environment and working knowledge of a range of analytical chemistry techniques
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Experience with characterizing proteins using MALDI-TOF
• Familiarity with protein OMIC’s techniques.
• Biochemistry experience, specifically measuring enzyme kinetics and protein purification
• Experience with Thin Layer Chromatography and FTIR
• Experience designing and carrying out experiments independently.
• Experience working with complex samples that specifically include cell culture or other biological material.
