We are seeking a motivated Scientist to join the Pharmaceutical Development team in a fully onsite role based in San Diego, CA. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to biologics drug product development through laboratory-based research and experimentation. The contract is expected to last between 5 and 7 months, with working hours from 8am to 5pm, Monday through Friday.
In this role, you will execute assigned studies and, as your experience grows, plan and lead smaller defined projects under general supervision. Responsibilities include supporting laboratory instrument setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, as well as method development and drafting related scientific documentation. You will perform phase-appropriate formulation and drug product process development, and conduct physicochemical and bioanalytical characterization using advanced instrumentation such as UPLC or HPLC (SEC, RP, HIC, IEX/CEX, CAD), charge variant analysis, particle analysis, CE-SDS, and other physical-property characterization techniques.
Experience with LC and iCiEF is required.
The successful candidate will analyze and interpret experimental data, identify trends, and recommend next steps within defined project parameters. You will collaborate with internal teams and external partners, communicate study progress and results, and support technology transfer and clinical material production. Maintaining laboratory notebooks, inventory, and instrument schedules, as well as adhering to laboratory safety and Good Documentation Practices, are essential.
Candidates should have a BS/BA in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related field, with at least 4 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience. Hands-on experience in biologic formulation, protein characterization, parenteral drug product development, and sterile injectable/aseptic processing is preferred. Strong technical writing, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
