Research Scientist, Biomedical Science, Research Assistant/Associate
HiComp is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented part-time Research Associate to join our dynamic biology team. This is an entry-level technical position focused on hands-on execution: you will run laboratory experiments following established protocols and instructions, generate high-quality data, analyze results, and document your studies. You will support the development and application of cutting-edge Organ-on-a-Chip (and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) models, working side by side with senior scientists who will train and mentor you.
Responsibilities- Experimental Execution: Carry out laboratory experiments according to established protocols and written or verbal instructions, including 2D & 3D cell culture, in vitro assays, and molecular biology experiments.
- Data & Analysis: Perform statistical analysis, summarize and present experimental data clearly, and flag or help troubleshoot experimental challenges.
- Documentation: Maintain rigorous project documentation and detailed laboratory notebooks to ensure reproducibility.
- Lab Support: Assist with general laboratory maintenance, inventory, and housekeeping to ensure a safe and productive research environment.
- Required: Master's degree (MS) in Life Sciences, Bioengineering, or a related field.
- Preferred: Higher education or advanced training is preferred.
- Prior hands-on laboratory experience is preferred
- Strong candidates coming directly out of a research-based degree program are encouraged to apply
- Cell Culture Expertise: Direct, hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture.
- Assay Proficiency: Proven ability to conduct cell-based and in vitro assays.
- Molecular Biology Techniques: Experience in some essential protocols including DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, Western blot, ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunohistochemistry.
- Data Handling: Comfortable with basic statistical analysis and scientific graphing software.
- Advanced Models: Specialized experience working with iPSCs, 3D cultures, organoids, and microfluidic devices is highly desirable.
- Fast Learner: Ability to quickly grasp new protocols and background knowledge.
- Adaptability: Flexible with working hours to accommodate specific project requirements and evolving business needs.
- Dynamic: Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
