Pay Details:
The annual base salary range for this position in California is $71,000 to $79,000 per year. The starting pay for the successful candidate depends on various job-related factors, including but not limited to the candidate's geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education/training, internal value, peer equity, external market demands, and organizational considerations.
- Develop product lines for game-day/event sales following fashion trends as well as traditional hockey staples, including, but not limited to, apparel, headwear, accessories, and souvenirs
- Train, manage, and lead part-time Merchandise Associates
- Supplement existing game-day and online product lines with seasonally and promotionally relevant offerings; act on hot-market opportunities
- Procure inventory from existing vendors while developing new vendor relationships to maximize the quality and efficiency of merchandise sales
- Maintain the Gulls Online Store, including processing and shipping orders, adding new merchandise items to the site, and managing the point-of-sale system
- Schedule and supervise game-day sales associates while ensuring all locations are properly staffed
- Maintain inventory levels to maximize game-day/event sales
- Ensure sales locations are properly equipped for each event/game at the point of sale; ensure equipment is properly stored and secured after each event/game
- Review and approve timekeeping/payroll information for event-day team members
- Issue purchase orders, review and process invoices, and report to Accounts Payable for timely payment
- Create a streamlined inventory line specifically for offsite brand activation events and manage merchandise sales at those events
- Service wholesale inventory requests from third-party retailers and coordinate billing with the Accounting Department
- Manage shipping and receiving of inventory and arrange secured storage
- Serve as the central purchaser of all merchandise, promotional products, and some print materials for the organization
- Maintain inventory by conducting scheduled physical inventories and periodic cycle counts
- Work with Marketing and Ticket Sales team members to develop campaigns that will maximize demand for branded products
- Work with affiliated organizations to adopt best practices whenever possible
- Respond to and fulfill merchandise requests from internal departments
- Respond to external merchandise inquiries, including, but not limited to, refund and exchange requests, new vendor solicitations, and information requests from the league office and other AHL clubs
- Report sales figures after each game/event
- Provide the Accounting Department with cost of goods sold figures each month
- Identify growth opportunities for merchandise revenue within the organization
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Event Management, Business, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of sports retail experience preferred
- Experience with designing and ordering merchandise items is a plus but is not required
- Experience using the Shopify e-commerce platform and Shopify POS system is a plus but is not required
- Experience using the Retail Cloud POS system for in-arena transactions, inventory, and post-event sales reports is a plus but is not required
- Experience with pop-up shops, brand activation events, and street fair retail sales is a Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and solid organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Available to work nights and weekends throughout the hockey season
- Knowledge, Skills and Experience Education - Bachelor's Degree
- Experience Required - 3-5 Year's
