Business Development Lead | AI Consulting

San Diego, CA (full-time in-office)

About the Opportunity

A fast-growing AI consulting firm is hiring its first senior sales leader to help scale revenue. This is a true hunter role for someone who thrives on building pipeline, opening doors, and closing complex, consultative deals.

You’ll work directly alongside the Founder to own the full sales motion — from first outreach through signed contract and client onboarding. The firm partners with businesses to design and implement practical AI solutions that streamline operations, modernize workflows, and drive measurable outcomes.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the full sales cycle: prospecting, discovery, solution positioning, proposal, and close
  • Generate net-new pipeline through outbound outreach, networking, referrals, and partnerships
  • Lead consultative conversations with executive and C‑suite buyers
  • Translate operational pain points into AI consulting engagements
  • Partner with technical teams to scope and position tailored solutions
  • Drive deals from initial conversation through contract signature and onboarding handoff
  • Build repeatable pipeline processes and sales discipline
  • Collaborate directly with the Founder on GTM strategy, positioning, and key accounts
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–6+ years of B2B sales or business development experience
  • Proven hunter with a track record of owning and closing deals end-to-end
  • Experience selling consulting, professional services, or technical solutions
  • Comfortable selling complex, solution-oriented engagements
  • Strong executive presence and consultative sales style
  • Self-starter who thrives in fast-moving, entrepreneurial environments
  • Process‑minded but scrappy — can build while executing
