Powersmith Energy is a veteran-owned solar and energy storage company serving residential clients across California. As we continue to scale our operations, we’re looking for a Vice President of Sales to lead, build, and optimize our sales organization with discipline, clarity, and results.
This role is ideal for a proven sales leader who understands solar, battery storage, complex energy solutions, and high-value deal cycles
, and who thrives in both strategic planning and hands-on execution.
In this full-time role, you will develop new business and form strong client relationships, provide technical expertise to support project development, and deliver tailored energy solutions. Day-to-day work includes assessing client needs, building proposals, presenting to clients and team, generating leads, and collaborating closely with our install partners’ engineering, estimating, and construction teams to ensure clients’ project success. You’ll sell energy services and performance contracting solutions to residential clients across California.
YourResponsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve organizational sales targets, including weekly sales activity goals
- Maintain accountability to weekly KPIs such as calls, meetings booked, proposals issued, and pipeline progression
- Meet quarterly revenue, pipeline, and proposal metrics established with other team leaders
- Identify and prioritize new business opportunities through market trend analysis and competitive insights
- Build and maintain relationships with residential clients
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners (including install partners) to ensure engineering, estimating, project management, and construction execution drives customer satisfaction and retention
- Facilitate negotiation of complex contracts, ensuring alignment with company goals and margin requirements
- Maintain accurate CRM records, manage the full pipeline, and provide weekly revenue forecasts
- Report on pipeline health, forecast revenue, and provide regular updates to senior management
- Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and best practices—sharing insights with colleagues and customers
Weekly KPIs
- Minimum number of outbound prospecting activities (calls, emails, outreach)
- Minimum number of qualified meetings scheduled
- Active movement of opportunities through defined pipeline stages
- CRM accuracy and timely entry of all activity
- Qualified pipeline growth target (e.g., $X in new opportunities added)
- Proposal delivery targets (quantity and value)
- Proposal-to-close conversion ratio
- New client acquisition or expansion within institutional accounts
- Forecast accuracy month-over-month
- Quarterly revenue targets
- Margin performance and deal quality
- Client retention and upsell opportunities
- Strategic account penetration and expansion
- Consistently meet or exceed weekly, monthly, and quarterly targets
- Build trust and credibility with residential clients
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver accurate proposals and an excellent client experience
- Strong time management, disciplined follow-through, and pipeline control
- 10+ years of residential and sales experience
- Proven record of exceeding sales targets
- Experience selling to businesses, and homeowners
- Ability to create and develop sales and pricing strategies
- Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and closing skills
- Analytical and problem-solving strength; comfort with metrics and forecasting
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- Willingness to travel as needed
