Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Senior Venue Sales Manager, Multi-Venue Portfolio (San Diego)

Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a fast-growing San Diego hospitality company that expanded from 1 venue to 9 in less than a year. With 511,000 square feet of event space (the second largest portfolio in San Diego outside the Convention Center), this company has chapels, historic venues, waterfront spaces, and outdoor event areas. They also operate a renowned cocktail catering brand that generates significant cross-sell opportunities on every deal.

This isn't a single-venue sales job. You'll sell everything from $1,500 chapel ceremonies to $200,000 multi-day corporate activations, treating both with the same level of attention. The average deal is $12,000, the sales cycle is about 30 days, and the inbound lead flow is heavy thanks to the brand's reputation across Wedding Wire, The Knot, Zola, and deep referral networks. ⠀

The brand is already built. The leads are already flowing. You're not joining to create demand from scratch. You're joining to close deals that are waiting for a strong salesperson. ⠀

As the VP of Sales put it: "People's eyes light up when you say our name. You just need to help them envision their event. That skill set is hard to find." ⠀

Let's be honest: if you're currently selling for a single venue, you know the frustration of turning away business when you're booked. Here, when one venue isn't available, you pivot to eight others. When venue space runs out entirely, you can still close the cocktail catering package for an offsite event. ⠀

The motto is "no closed doors." Every lead has somewhere to land. ⠀

If you've been waiting for a portfolio that matches your sales ability, this is the opportunity. ⠀

You'll report to the VP of Sales and work across nine venues including historic chapels, large indoor event halls, waterfront spaces, and outdoor areas that require complex permitting and coordination. A newly promoted Venue Operations Manager handles post-sale logistics so you can stay focused on selling. ⠀

The business breakdown: weddings (55%), corporate events (35%), and everything else like bar mitzvahs, quinceañeras, nonprofit galas, and festivals (10%). You'll need to be comfortable with all of them. ⠀

  • Own the full event lifecycle from first inquiry to damage deposit return
  • Sell venue space and cocktail catering packages together (trained on both)
  • Handle complex outdoor events with permitting, street closures, and buildouts
  • Tour clients across multiple venues, pivoting when one location isn't available
  • Build channel partner relationships and develop your own pipeline beyond inbound
  • Attend high-value events when your presence matters (first bar mitzvah of four, repeat corporate clients, major celebrations)
  • Collaborate with junior sales reps and coordinate handoffs to the operations team ⠀

This isn't 9-to-5. Saturdays are almost always required. There's always at least one event, and your high-value clients are typically there. The schedule is structured as Tuesday through Saturday, with flexibility around how hours shift week to week. Some weeks you work a full Saturday and leave early Friday. Leadership is flexible, but you need to know when to show up without being told.

  • Direct venue sales experience (not hotel event sales where you only do tours and hand off to other departments)
  • Full event lifecycle management, from inquiry through post-event
  • Senior-level track record in venue or event sales specifically
  • Comfortable with diverse event types: weddings, corporate, social, nonprofit
  • Available for Tuesday through Saturday schedule with flexibility
  • Based in San Diego or willing to relocate (no remote option) ⠀
  • Experience with complex outdoor events (permitting, no permanent infrastructure)
  • Local San Diego network and industry relationships
  • Experience at multi-venue hospitality groups
  • Book of business or channel partner relationships you can activate ⠀
  • Hotel sales background where departments are siloed (this role requires owning everything)
  • Looking for Monday through Friday, 9-to-5 hours
  • Focused only on large corporate events (60% of revenue is weddings)
  • Expecting a private office at the senior level ⠀

We've met with leadership. We know what they're really looking for beyond the job description, and we can prep you for what to expect in the interview process. ⠀

Apply via Linked In and we'll reach out to schedule a conversation. Confidential search; your application is fully private. ⠀
