Sunday Golf,the fastest growing golf bag brand west of the Mississippi, south of Carlsbad is hiring for a Director of Wholesale Sales.
Our focus is on building the best golf bags and gear in the industry. We are a 15-person team headquartered in San Diego, CA.
This is an in-person position based at Sunday Golf’s HQ in San Diego around the 5-805 split with 4 days required in office. Candidates must currently live in the San Diego area or be willing to relocate. This is not a remote position.
The RoleWholesale is our biggest growth lever and it is currently being partially managed by our Co-Founder/CFO and now are looking for our next key hire to sit fully in that leadership seat. This is a player-coach role:
You'll manage key accounts, oversee other sales channels, all while building the systems, forecasting discipline, and team needed to scale. You'll inherit an existing team and a set of channels with real momentum and real white space, and you'll be responsible for hiring and building out the remaining seats on the team.
- Lead, manage, and hold the sales team accountable to quarterly KPI’s and revenue targets.
- Wholesale P&L:
Revenue growth, trade margin, pricing and terms, and discount/markdown strategy across every channel. - Forecasting and S&OP: A tight, ongoing partnership with our Head of Supply Chain on demand planning and allocation, especially for large key-account POs.
- A real annual wholesale plan + strategy:
Translating our company revenue target into targets by account, channel, territory, and month, and owning the forecast when it's wrong, not just when it's right. - Personally sell into and work with direct reports to manage our largest sales channels such as: key accounts (Dicks Sporting Goods, PGA Tour Superstore, World Wide Golf, Scheels, and more), including membership/club relationships, Speciality and Custom channel, and International etc.
- Cross-functional leadership with product, finance, and marketing on launches, inventory, and retailer-specific programs.
- 7+ years in wholesale sales within golf, sporting goods, outdoor, footwear, or accessories
- Direct selling experience with major national retailers such as DICK’S/Golf Galaxy, PGA TOUR
- 3+ years leading a wholesale sales team — direct reports, independent reps, or rep groups.
- Key-account management fluency: line reviews, buyer relationships, assortment planning, promotional calendars, sell-through reviews, markdowns, chargebacks, and retailer profitability.
- Forecasting: accurate account- and SKU-level forecasts, with real ownership when a forecast misses.
- Fluency in the metrics that run this business: sell-in, sell-through, weeks of supply, turns, reorder
- Team and rep-group leadership: recruiting, coaching, setting quotas, running account reviews, and making difficult performance decisions.
Golf-industry experience is highly valuable, but not absolute — we'd still consider someone with exceptional sporting-goods wholesale experience and strong buyer relationships. National-account experience, however, is non-negotiable.
- The golf retail calendar — line reviews, pre-books, seasonal launches, and replenishment.
- The practical differences between green-grass, off-course, big-box, and specialty golf accounts.
- Golf-bag and accessory merchandising, price architecture, and retailer margin expectations.
- Golf buying groups, rep networks, tournaments, trade shows, and industry relationships.
