Position Overview
Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct an immediate search for a VP of Business Development (Commercial Construction) on behalf of our client, a well-established commercial construction firm based in Southern California. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior-level business development leader to drive strategic growth and expand the project pipeline within the San Diego market.
Key Responsibilities- Drive new business development efforts across the San Diego and broader Southern California market
- Leverage and expand relationships with developers, brokers, architects, and industry partners
- Identify, pursue, and secure large-scale commercial construction projects (often $50M+)
- Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to align business development strategies with operational capabilities
- Contribute to overall company growth strategy and market positioning
- Represent the organization at industry events, networking functions, and client meetings
- Maintain a strong pipeline of opportunities and oversee deal progression
- 10+ years of senior-level business development experience within commercial construction or a related industry
- Strong, existing relationships within the San Diego commercial real‑estate and development market
- Proven track record of successfully bringing in large-scale construction projects
- Strategic thinker with strong leadership presence and ability to influence stakeholders
- Highly relationship-driven, proactive, and collaborative
- Familiarity with CRM tools and construction/project systems is a plus
- Base salary: flexible depending on experience
