UCSD Department of Radiation Medicine and Applied Sciences is conducting a research study that combines neuropsychological assessment with multimodal neuroimaging to predict cognitive outcomes in patients with epilepsy and brain tumors. The Staff Research Associate reports to the Lead Researcher and works closely with a multidisciplinary team of neuropsychologists, neuroradiologists, cognitive scientists, neurologists, postdoctoral fellows, graduate students and medical residents.

• Conduct patient‑facing neuropsychological testing, score tests, and maintain quality data.
• Recruit, screen, schedule patients and healthy controls, and ensure adherence to eligibility criteria.
• Collect and collate data, create and manage databases, and assist with data validation.
• Provide administrative support as requested by the research team.
• Assist with manuscript preparation, poster and paper presentations, and grant writing activities.
• Participate in professional development meetings and conferences as needed.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the research team.

• Theoretical knowledge in neuropsychology, clinical psychology, psychiatry, or related discipline.
• Ability to communicate in both English and Spanish (written and verbal).
• Experience in bilingual Spanish/English neuropsychological assessment.
• Experience administering computerized neurocognitive tasks and standard neuropsychological tests.
• Skill in scoring tests using normative data and interpreting results.
• Capacity to establish rapport, manage test anxiety, and maintain patient engagement during sessions.
• Attention to detail in observing, recording, and accurately scoring quantitative and qualitative data.
• Effective interviewing skills to accurately screen potential participants.
• Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Experience in accurate data entry, cross‑validation, and quality control procedures.

• Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
• Foundational knowledge of epilepsy and brain tumors and their impact on cognitive test performance.
• Background in descriptive and inferential statistics for data analysis.
• Competence in statistical analysis programs.
• Familiarity with UNIX/LINUX based operating systems.
• Knowledge of LINUX, Matlab, Python, or R.
• Experience with MRI acquisition and processing.
• Proficiency in designing, building, and maintaining secure, multi‑variable data capture forms in REDCap.
• Working knowledge of Institutional Review Board (IRB) policies and ethical regulatory compliance.

• Employment requires a criminal background check and pre‑employment physical.
• Work schedule may include varying hours and locations based on business needs.

Annual Full Pay Range: $59,905 - $71,451 (prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%). Hourly Equivalent: $28.69 - $34.22.
