Rayze Bio is a dynamic biotechnology company headquartered in San Diego, California, United States. Launched in late 2020 and recently acquired by Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) as a wholly owned subsidiary, the company is focused on improving survival for people with cancer by harnessing the power of targeted radioisotopes. Rayze Bio will operate as a standalone entity within the BMS organization, maintaining its biotech culture with the opportunity to leverage the best-in-class oncology capabilities of BMS.

Rayze Bio is developing innovative drugs against targets of solid tumors. The lead asset, RYZ
101, is in Phase 3 testing for patients with gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEP-NETs), as well as earlier stage testing for patients with small cell lung cancer (SCLC). Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Executing multi-step synthetic routes, optimizing reaction conditions, isolation, and characterization of organic compounds (chromatography, NMR, MS, IR spectroscopy).
• Collaborating effectively with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
• Documenting research activities and presenting findings clearly.
• Execute experimental plans, troubleshoot synthetic challenges and contribute to the optimization of lead compounds.

BS or MS in Chemistry with strong demonstrable expertise in synthetic organic and medicinal chemistry 3+ years experience (BS) 2+ years (MS) in a non-academic synthetic chemistry laboratory.

Strong small molecule synthetic skills and knowledge of laboratory techniques and safety, with experience synthesizing peptides a plus. Proficiency in compound synthesis techniques, reactions, compound purification, troubleshooting and characterization using methods such as LCMS, HPLC and NMR. Familiarity with scientific software such as Chem Draw, Scifinder, and Reaxys. Adaptable and flexible, able to handle multiple demands and shifting priorities. Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Adept in documenting and presenting findings clearly through laboratory notebook, reports, and presentations. Uses AI tools to enhance individual productivity and quality of work.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. This is a position that requires working in a laboratory environment, protective clothing, gloves, and safety glasses are required while working in a laboratory environment with radioactive materials.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
