About The Role
Senior Medical Director, Clinical Development will define and execute clinical development strategies for Neurocrine’s obesity pipeline, providing independent medical leadership across Phase 1–3 and partnering with cross-functional teams.
Your Contributions- Develop and lead obesity clinical development strategies (accountable for study design and medical integrity across Phase 1–3)
- Serve as Program/Therapeutic Medical Lead; provide medical leadership and input into integrated development plans
- Drive execution aligned to corporate objectives, regulatory strategy, and scientific rationale
- Translate clinical strategy into study designs and operational plans delivering high-quality data
- Lead clinical synopses; contribute to protocols/amendments/study reports
- Oversee data collection strategy and interpretation/integration of clinical data
- Partner with Clinical Operations for trial execution per NBI SOPs, GCP, and regulatory requirements
- Assess and disposition adverse events with Drug Safety; evaluate benefit–risk throughout development
- Engage external experts/investigators/KOLs to inform strategy and trial design; support investigator selection and act as Sponsor medical monitor/representative
- Lead analysis/presentation of study results; guide scientific disclosures (abstracts, presentations, publications)
- Partner with Research/Translational Medicine on biomarker strategies
- Interface across Research/Product/Business Development; resource and budget input; recruit/mentor teams; manage CROs/consultants; contribute to clinical development policies/processes/best practices
- MD or DO (or equivalent) in relevant clinical specialty AND 4+ years clinical experience with broad bio/pharmaceutical/CRO drug development experience; OR accredited residency training and board certification preferred
- Deep clinical development expertise; understanding of regulatory/technical/business considerations
- Track record leading IND/NDA or similar regulatory submissions/interactions
- Strong GCP, translational medicine, biomarker development, study design, biostatistics, and data interpretation
- Successful leadership of cross-functional matrixed teams; manage external CROs/vendors
- Proven ability to drive strategy from early development through late-stage execution
Strategic, collaborative, strong mentoring/people leadership, exceptional communication, adaptable/self-motivated, project management, and proficiency with clinical/business documentation tools.
