Wesley Palms Retirement Community – Security Officer I

Full Time:
Friday – Tuesday, varying shifts

Pay Range: $19.00 – $21.00 per hour

Provides security services for residents and employees of the organization. Protects from and responds to fire, theft, vandalism, and illegal entry by performing the duties described below.

• Provide quality customer service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors to ensure satisfaction
• Patrols outside grounds of campus and lobbies, corridors and public rooms, access points of the facility to ensure safety and security of residents and staff
• Respond to fire alarms, emergency call switch activations and other emergencies
• Warn violators of rule infractions (e.g., loitering, smoking, carrying forbidden articles) and report or address suspicious or criminal acts
• Investigate and complete resident loss reports and incident reports, provide copies to supervisor and maintain files
• Keep an accurate log of shift activities
• Occasionally perform emergency janitorial duties and set thermostatic controls to maintain specified temperatures in buildings or cold storage rooms
• Familiar with all disaster, fire and other emergency procedures as outlined in facility disaster plan
• Perform duties safely and efficiently; wear PPE/safety equipment as required; report safety hazards and/or accidents to supervisor
• Follow department safety standards, practice body mechanics techniques and participate in campus-wide safety programs

• All employees are required to follow safe work habits to prevent injuries to themselves, residents, visitors or other employees

• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Guard Card

• High School diploma or GED

• 1+ years of previous Security Officer or Security Guard experience
