Job Description

As a Security Officer - Temp to Hire Patrol Driver in La Jolla, CA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at an education location, you will conduct routine foot and vehicle patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce incidents, and respond to security-related concerns with clear communication and customer service.

This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license per AU Driver Policy Requirements. You will support a caring, agile team that acts with integrity, delivers through teamwork, and brings innovative thinking to daily operations.

    What You'll Do
    • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, location‑specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
    • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of academic buildings, common areas, parking areas, and the perimeter to help deter unwanted activity and/or identify hazards.
    • Monitor access points and observe for unusual conditions, reporting concerns to site leadership and/or appropriate responders per post orders.
    • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem‑solving manner, providing clear directions and timely notifications.
    • Complete detailed reports of patrols, incidents, and service requests, and communicate updates during shift transitions.
    Minimum Requirements
    • Have a minimum of 2 years of security‑related experience.
    • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
    • A guard card/license is preferred.
    • Ability to lift up to 20 lbs is preferred.
    • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
    • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
    • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
    • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
    • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
    • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
    • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
    • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
