Security Specialist

Job Summary

Under limited supervision, this position is responsible for administering security programs and procedures for classified and/or proprietary materials, documents, and equipment for an assigned area(s).

Initiates and plans project(s) and develops the schedule to meet project goals. The Security Specialist, entry to mid-level position, will work under the guidance and direction of the Security Manager at our San Diego, CA GA-EMS Campus. The assignments of the Security Specialist are focused on supporting the administration of several vigorous security projects in a dynamic environment working alongside a team of security professionals.

The primary responsibility is to support the implementation of all requisite national security directives with specific emphasis on the U.S. Government Industrial Security Programs (NISPOM 32 CFR Part 117, DOD 5205.07 series, DOD 5200.01 series, ICD series) and a complete and thorough understanding of established policies, procedures, and practices for safeguarding National Security Information. The Security Specialist works as a team player, exhibits flexibility, manages priorities, and meets customer expectations in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

The Security Specialist interacts with internal and external customers or Government security officials in performance of security duties. Exercises considerable judgment to develop solutions while providing leadership and guidance to employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors on appropriate action(s) to be taken to ensure compliance with the classified security program. • Maintain strict accountability records for classified materials, including Top Secret holdings
• Process security clearances, manage access rosters, and conduct indoctrination and debriefing briefings for cleared personnel.
• Deep focus on processing SAP Nomination Packages (SAPNPs), tracking electronic Program Access Requests (ePARs), conducting program indoctrinations/debriefings, and maintaining strict compliance records
• Deep familiarity with DoD SAP Manuals (e.g., DoDM 5205.07), ICD 705, and the NISPOM
• Routine utilization of official government systems of record, including DISS, JADE, and Scattered Castles
• Analyze, investigate, and resolve classified security issues while providing leadership and guidance to employees, supervisors, managers, and contractors on actions(s) to be taken to ensure compliance with the classified security program.
• Administer and coordinate all aspects of security activities in accordance with company policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal security regulations, directives, and manuals for safeguarding National Security Information.
• Establish and maintain liaison with government agencies, external customers, contractors, employees, and managers to ensure compliance with National Policy.
• Coordinate with government agencies to obtain rulings, interpretations, and acceptable deviations for compliance with regulations.
• Develop and implement security Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and emergency action plans.
• Plan, develop, and manage specialized security programs and procedures for both classified and proprietary materials, documents, and equipment while considering program OPSEC requirements.
• Interpret and implement program DD254s;
  Issue subcontractor DD254s as needed.
• Develop, review, and implement classified procedures and CONOPs based on customer directives and policies.
