Special Events Officer

San Diego State University's University Police Department is seeking Special Event Officers to help provide a safe, welcoming, and secure environment during campus events. Whether supporting athletic events, concerts, ceremonies, or other special activities, you'll play an important role in helping students, employees, and visitors enjoy a safe campus experience. As a Special Event Officer, you'll support a variety of public safety responsibilities, including patrol, traffic management, emergency response, and community engagement.

Working alongside the SDSU Police Department, you'll contribute to a collaborative, service-oriented approach to campus safety while representing the University's commitment to professionalism, respect, and community partnership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol buildings and grounds by foot, bicycle, electric vehicle, motorcycle, and patrol car.
• Protect students, faculty, staff, visitors, property, and facilities from accidents, harm, theft, vandalism, fire, and illegal entry.
• Enforce state laws, local ordinances, and campus traffic/parking regulations; apprehend violators when necessary.
• Control crowds and maintain order during special events or disturbances.
• Respond to emergencies, provide first aid, and assist in evacuations when needed.
• Guard property and facilities to deter crime and ensure safety.
• Investigate incidents such as accidents, property damage, fires, thefts, and disturbances of the peace.
• Gather evidence, make arrests, and appear in court as required.
• Prepare clear, accurate reports on law enforcement and safety incidents.
• Provide information, assistance, and positive engagement to the campus community, supporting the principles of community policing.
