Position: Facilities Technician (San Diego)

Under general supervision, this position is responsible for the general and preventative maintenance of California Credit Union’s facilities.

Principal Accountabilities (90%) – Facilities
  • Assist with ensuring the proper operation of all Credit Union facilities through timely completion of assigned maintenance tasks, to include building interior and exterior areas.
  • Assesses and makes recommendations to the Facilities Engineer relating to facilities maintenance and repair needs.
  • Assists Facilities Engineer relating to compliance with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to fire codes and OSHA regulations; and daily walk-throughs and weekly inspections to identify safety concerns and issues.
  • Assists Facilities Engineer with tasks relating to minor facilities, including but not limited to the following systems/areas: HVAC, grounds, plumbing, electrical, general carpentry, walls, furniture, building surfaces, fire/safety equipment, janitorial services, lighting, flooring, ceiling, cabinets, desks, carpeting, restrooms, kitchen, workstations, offices, storage areas, small appliances, etc.
  • Procures repair parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
  • Documents work by using assigned logs and methods; provides maintenance data to manager to assist with overall facilities management.
  • Performs on-call duties as assigned; work may include extended hours.
  • Assists with setting up and tearing down special events, including but not limited to car sales, corporate meetings, group functions, both on and off Credit Union premises.
  • Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
Secondary Accountabilities (10%) – Administrative Services
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Provides backup and assistance when needed to Administrative Services in the areas of Purchasing, Security, and Mailroom Operations.
  • Assists with scheduling the use of the company vehicle to include ensuring the log is completed.
  • Assist Administrative Services Coordinator with fixed assets to include new and inventoried assets. Also, assist with annual audit reconciliations.
  • Complies with BSA requirements as commensurate with position.
Position Requirement and Qualifications

Abilities:

Abilities in the following: problem-solving, organization, time-management, detail-orientation, communication, customer service, documentation, and operation of hand tools and appropriate equipment. Excellent abilities in customer service, organization, communication, initiative, adaptability, flexibility, and teamwork. Must be able to operate specialized equipment to include complex copiers, mail machines and related equipment. Must be able to lift to 100 lbs. and operate simple hand tools.

Must also be able to drive a motor vehicle.

Knowledge, Education, Certifications, Licenses:

General knowledge of minor building repairs and maintenance to include internal and external systems that affect the operational functions of the credit union’s buildings and facilities. General knowledge of safety regulations and rules; and credit union policies relating to assigned tasks. High School diploma or equivalent. Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to pass background checks to comply with access to military facilities and branch locations.

Experience:

One year to three years of facilities maintenance and repairs experience. One year’s general office experience in an administrative service/distribution center environment or equivalent to gain the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities to handle all aspects of the position.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Work is performed indoors and outdoors. While performing the duties of the job, incumbent is regularly required to stand; walk; use hand and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and is frequently required to climb or balance; stoop; kneel; crouch; crawl; and, frequently required to lift up to 100 lbs.
