Job SummaryThe Aircraft Mechanic I (Airframes) role involves performing maintenance on aircraft systems, including structures, landing gear, flight surfaces, engines, avionics, hydraulic systems, and more, as part of the HSM-41 Navy or Multi-Foreign component. This position works closely with foreign and U.S. personnel to maintain and ensure aircraft safety and mission readiness.
Primary Responsibilities- Repair and rebuild aircraft systems (structure, engines, rotor systems, avionics, etc.).
- Work with tools such as shears, welding equipment, rivet guns, drills, and more to ensure proper maintenance of systems.
- Handle and repair components like hydraulic units, plumbing, and surface controls.
- Perform 175‑hour, isochronal, phase, and periodic inspections.
- Examine engines for cracks, corrosion, leaks, and other defects; test engine operations and repair or replace components as needed.
- Inspect and service various aircraft parts including turbines, generators, fuel pumps, and more.
- Perform repairs and replacements of electrical wiring systems and aircraft accessories.
- Conduct preflight, through‑flight, and post‑flight maintenance inspections.
- Service the aircraft by cleaning filters, greasing parts, and ensuring brake and corrosion prevention.
- Participate in aircraft jacking and towing.
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance performed in OOMA or similar to OOMA systems ensuring compliance with 4790 and safety standards.
- May specialize in specific areas such as engines, airframes, electrical, or armament repair.
- Monitor safety procedures and ensure the aircraft remain in safe, mission‑ready condition.
- Maintain necessary certifications such as Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) or Quality Assurance Representative (QAR).
- Housekeeping in the work area.
- Participate in FOD (Foreign Object Damage) program.
- Handle hazardous materials (Hazmat) and work in compliance with safety requirements.
- Obtain necessary licenses for specialized equipment.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years of H‑60S/R/F/H Aircraft Maintenance experience or equivalent rotary aircraft maintenance experience.
- Experience with MH60‑R Aircraft highly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as CDI/CDQAR (Collateral Duty Inspector/Quality Assurance Representative) for H‑60 aircraft.
- In‑depth knowledge of aircraft and maintenance procedures.
- Ability to read and interpret technical data, manuals, and special operating instructions.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain CDI or QAR qualifications.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all required qualifications as per CNAFINST 4790.2 (series).
- Must be able to obtain a T3 Security Clearance.
- Must be able to obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
- Must have a valid state driver's license.
- Ability to work all shifts as per the flight schedule.
- Flexibility in start and end times based on operational needs.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and understanding English.
- Ability to work with foreign cultures and languages.
- Successfully pass a pre‑employment drug screen and medical examination.
- Ability to meet physical requirements for the position.
- Compliance with safety, quality, and environmental regulations.
- Must be able to handle and dispose of hazardous materials as required.
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Computer usage for documentation using codes and clear written and verbal English language required.
- Constant use of eye sight abilities while reviewing documents, walking around work areas and constant use of English language speech/hearing abilities for communication.
- Constant mental alertness around all work areas, must possess planning/organizing skills, and must be able to work under deadlines.
- Climbing aircraft using aircraft step and all types of ladders or stands.
- Standing long period of time with minimal sitting.
- Ability to work under extreme weather conditions.
- Work site has head, hand, hearing, eye, slip and trip hazards shall use proper PPE and proper safety procedures.
- Must be able to work all shifts.
- Full‑time employment; however, 40 hours is not guaranteed per‑week.
