Position: Ship/Submarine Welder 2 - San Diego, CA

Overview

The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division operates at shipyards worldwide from offices in Chesapeake, VA, and San Diego, CA. Join our Alteration Installation Teams to support C4

ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Enjoy competitive compensation and benefits.

Pay Range: $25.60 - $38.40

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 3-5 years of applicable welding experience
  • ASNT NDT Level II Certification or relevant experience preferred
  • Additional technical certifications such as AWS Certified Welding Supervisor or Inspector preferred

Skills and Proficiencies:

  • Interpret specifications and shipboard drawings
  • Operate ARC and gas welding equipment for fabrication and repair
  • Weld in all positions and on various metals and alloys
  • Perform thermal cutting and grinding
  • Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes

Safety and Physical Requirements:

  • Occupational Safety Haz-Mat Certification
  • Shipyard Competent Person Certification
  • Aloft/Climbing Certification
  • Confined Spaces Certification
  • Ability to lift and move objects of 50 lbs

Security and Work Locations:

  • Mainly in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with travel to other shipyards and Navy ports
  • US Citizenship required for clearance
  • Background check and valid driver's license required
  • May require use of a company vehicle

Other Responsibilities:

  • Overtime as needed
  • Maintain equipment and inventory
  • Organize and schedule welding jobs

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift at least 100 lbs, carry tools, work at heights up to 60 feet
  • Climb ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
  • Perform routine physical activities and recognize problems
  • Good vision and hearing, ability to communicate in English
