Position Summary

The Aircraft Electrical Technician II aviation maintenance professional responsible for assisting with the inspection, installation, testing, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of aircraft electrical and electronic systems. An Electric Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) is a qualified and experienced aviation electrician responsible for performing and certifying maintenance on the electrical systems of F/A-18 aircraft. This role ensures that all work is carried out in strict accordance with the NAMP, applicable technical manuals, and safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Overhaul, repair, modify and test aircraft electrical system accessories such as motors, dynamotors, inverters, etc.
  • Install, troubleshoot, calibrate, and test complex electrical systems and devices on military aircraft to ensure precise performance and reliability of all electrical systems.
  • Test the various units for compliance with the proper tolerances prescribed for transient time, noise amplitude, and frequencies
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills Required
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years previous experience as an Electrical Technician (CDI Experience)
  • Must be capable of attaining Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) within a required timeframe.
  • Working knowledge of the COMNAVAIRFORINST 4790.2 Series.
  • Training to include NAMTRGD Navy AME “A” or factory equivalent ejection seat and environmental control system course of instruction.
  • Knowledge of naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards, and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval Aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS).
  • Must have at least 2 years of documented experience in Aerospace and/or Aircraft Electrical procedures and processes.
  • Must have basic knowledge of electrical theory.
Physical and Environmental Requirements
  • Abilitylift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods.
  • This position requires normal physical functions.
  • Work may be performed on top or under equipment in cramped or awkward positions.
  • Required to work in areas in the hangar and on the flightline that are noisy and dusty.
  • Exposed to heat, cold and wind.
