Field/Service Technician, Construction Manager/ Foreman, Installation Technician
Under the direction of the Division Manager, the Field Supervisor is responsible for supervising daily field operations, project installations, and maintenance activities. The role serves as a vital bridge between field personnel and organizational leadership — a working leader who balances hands-on expertise with coaching, coordination, and accountability across multiple active jobs.
The Field Supervisor conducts routine job site visits and inspections, ensures rigid quality control, and provides direct technical training, mentoring, and assistance to technicians as needed. This position is charged with enforcing company policies, supporting a strong safety culture, and driving department development plans in accordance with company standards and gross margin objectives — ensuring operational excellence, robust training support, consistent skill development, and strict safety compliance across field teams.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Field Supervision & Quality Control- Oversee, supervise, and evaluate field technicians, leads, and apprentices to ensure workmanship meets the highest quality standards, local plumbing codes, and project specifications.
- Conduct routine job site visits, field audits, and detailed truck inspections at the direction of the Division Manager to maintain compliance with company guidelines for appearance, hygiene, and tool maintenance.
- Review plans, blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and construction specifications accurately to support field execution and troubleshoot complex structural or installation challenges on site.
- Audit field work to ensure necessary permits are obtained and installations pass regulatory and company inspections.
- Supervise workload, daily progress, and schedules to optimize field manpower, maximize operational efficiency, and minimize idle or unallocated time.
- Provide input and recommendations on hiring, promotion, corrective action, and termination decisions; such recommendations are given particular weight by the Division Manager.
- Support training programs, ensuring consistent, professional skill development and safety compliance across apprentices, helpers, and technicians.
- Conduct routine classroom training, field demonstration sessions, and ride-alongs to provide live coaching, skills assessments, and direct technical assistance.
- Mentor apprentices and helpers in the field, instilling professionalism, reinforcing best practices, and ensuring team members model core company values.
- Monitor field progress and performance metrics, providing targeted coaching, constructive feedback, and corrective disciplinary action when necessary.
- Supervise assigned commercial and residential plumbing projects from initial site planning and job walks through execution and final completion.
- Partner closely with the Division Manager, Project Managers, Install Coordinators, and warehouse/fleet departments to secure required materials, equipment, and staffing adjustments.
- Provide transparent daily updates to leadership regarding field trends, project status, material constraints, delays, and technician morale.
- Document field incidents, progress photos, change orders, and completed work orders accurately as required by department processes.
- Perform associated clerical duties, including attending weekly field meetings, evaluating technician paperwork, and performing formal personnel reviews.
- Harness and promote a rigorous safety culture across all active job sites, ensuring team members adhere to OSHA guidelines, industry regulations, and company safety standards.
- Ensure field teams comply with California meal and rest period requirements, including timely breaks and accurate timekeeping, and upscale compliance issues as needed.
- Hold technicians and field staff accountable to determined key performance indicators (KPIs), safety protocols, and operational compliance.
- 5+ years of comprehensive plumbing installation and service experience (commercial preferred).
