Description
The Community Services Department of the City of Irvine is seeking an individual to assist the FOR Families Program Specialist with the day-to-day operations of the program. This includes assessing the needs of program participants, facilitating appropriate resource linkage, maintaining statistics, assisting with community presentations, database maintenance, and the quarterly newsletter.
This position is part-time with a schedule requirement of up to 19 hours per week. Weekday availability is required.
In addition, we will be filling a position in the Senior Services section with an emphasis on care management and outreach. For this vacancy, we are seeking an experienced individual to perform home visits and conduct in-home assessments for services. This position is part-time with a schedule requirement of up to 15 hours per week. Weekday availability is required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities- Under supervision, provides consultation and information on a wide range of social services issues with clients as well as other social service agencies to help solve problems and develop solutions.
- Maintain and update referral database with current available community resources and services.
- Facilitate problem solving with individuals who may be experiencing acute distress/make objective decisions in emotionally charged situations.
- Assist with program outreach presentations.
- Prepare program updates, maintain quality assurance and input/maintain statistical data.
- Provide assistance and support with the day-to-day operations of the FOR Families program.
- Facilitate support groups for seniors and provide support to home visiting volunteers.
- Maintain confidential records and files pertaining to program participants and the services received.
- Prepare, analyze and disseminate quarterly program-specific data and reports.
- Provide home visits to seniors for needs assessments, psycho-social assessments, ongoing reassessments, interventions and care plans.
- Maintain effective relationships with the program participants, family members, advocates, community partners, volunteers, and City of Irvine staff.
- Equivalent to four years of college or university level work in social work, human services, social ecology or closely related field, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Graduate level experience and education is desirable.
- Understand and respond positively to the needs of community members of varying cultural backgrounds.
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of community social services resources.
- Effectively organize, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with staff and collaborative partners demonstrating leadership abilities.
- Effective written and oral communication skills.
- Technical skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Publisher, and Power Point.

THIS IS A NON-BENEFITED POSITION WITH AN ANNUAL SCHEDULE CAP OF 999 HOURS PER FISCAL YEAR.
Part-time employees must contribute 4.3% of base pay to the Public Agency Retirement System (PARS). The City contributes 3.2%. Contribution rates are subject to change.
The City does not participate in Social Security except for the mandatory Medicare Program.
