Job Description & How to Apply Below

Corti Sci is an early‑stage neurotechnology company developing next‑generation tools for functional brain mapping and intraoperative neuromonitoring. Our founders come from globally recognized leadership roles across advanced semiconductor engineering, high‑volume wireless systems, neurosurgery, and academic neurotechnology research. The company is built on a culture of technical rigor, velocity, and uncompromising execution.

We design and control our entire technology stack — neural acquisition hardware, embedded firmware, DSP pipelines, and Windows‑based clinical software — to deliver real‑time cortical insights for neurosurgeons and clinical teams. As a 5–20 person team, this role represents the first core software leadership hire.

This position is onsite in San Diego and central to the company’s technical trajectory.

Role Overview

Corti Sci is seeking a Vice President of Software Engineering to architect, build, and lead the full software organization. This is a hands‑on, founding‑team role responsible for the entire software lifecycle across Windows 11 clinical applications, DSP pipelines, and embedded firmware for custom neuro‑acquisition hardware.

You will establish the software architecture, development processes, and engineering culture that will carry the company through clinical deployment and regulatory submission. You will work shoulder‑to‑shoulder with hardware, systems engineering, clinical leadership, and the founding team to deliver a tightly integrated neuro‑medical device platform.

Who You Are

You thrive in high‑intensity environments where precision, speed, and accountability matter. You are equally comfortable designing architectures, writing code, and mentoring engineers. You understand the discipline required to ship FDA‑regulated software and can build a world‑class engineering organization from the ground up. You move fast, communicate clearly, and take ownership of outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Architect and lead all software development across application, DSP, and embedded layers.
  • Build and scale the software organization; hire, mentor, and establish engineering culture and standards.
  • Own the full software lifecycle under FDA design controls, including requirements, traceability, and documentation.
  • Lead development of Windows 11‑based clinical applications with real‑time visualization, signal monitoring, and intuitive GUI workflows.
  • Guide DSP algorithm implementation for neural signal processing.
  • Direct embedded firmware development for custom acquisition hardware, including microcontroller and FPGA‑adjacent systems.
  • Establish coding standards, code review practices, and modern development workflows suitable for regulated environments.
  • Drive integration across hardware, firmware, and application layers to ensure deterministic performance and clinical reliability.
  • Collaborate closely with clinical and medical leadership to translate real‑world neurosurgical workflows into robust software features.
  • Support regulatory and quality teams in preparing software documentation for future submissions.
  • Operate as a hands‑on technical executive capable of diving into code, architecture, and system‑level debugging.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, including leadership roles in high‑performance or regulated systems.
  • Demonstrated experience developing FDA‑regulated medical device software, ideally in neurotech.
  • Strong understanding of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, and software design controls.
  • Deep experience with DSP for neural or physiological signals.
  • Expertise in Windows 11 application development, including real‑time visualization and GUI frameworks.
  • Hands‑on experience with embedded firmware, microcontrollers, and hardware‑software integration.
  • Ability to operate as both architect and implementer in an early‑stage environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to collaborate with hardware, clinical, and executive leadership.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with C++, C#, Python, Rust, or similar languages used in DSP and clinical applications.
  • Familiarity with GUI frameworks such as Qt, WPF, .NET MAUI, or custom OpenGL/Direct

    X pipelines.
  • Experience…
