In this role, you’ll support the System Integration and Validation team by designing and implementing automation that validates the full user experience—from mobile app functionality to system behavior under real-world conditions. You’ll play a key role in transitioning the team from manual testing to scalable, automation- and simulation-driven validation.
The ideal candidate is a strong SDET with hands‑on experience building automation frameworks, working with complex systems, and independently driving testing strategy in fast‑paced, evolving environments.
As a Software Developer In Test (QA), You’ll- Convert manual test cases into automated workflows and validation logic.
- Design, build, and enhance automation frameworks using Python and PyTest.
- Develop UI-based validation using Playwright to verify end-to-end system behavior.
- Define and implement pass/fail criteria based on system signals, logs, and outputs.
- Analyze logs, system behavior, and test results to validate functionality and identify issues.
- Support simulation-based testing efforts to reduce reliance on physical testing environments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define validation strategies and success metrics.
- Support defect triage by identifying, reproducing, and validating issues across environments.
- Document test results, maintain traceability, and drive continuous improvement in QA processes.
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of experience as an SDET or automation engineer.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with PyTest-based frameworks.
- Experience building or extending test automation frameworks.
- Experience with UI automation tools (Playwright strongly preferred).
- Ability to translate manual testing processes into scalable automated solutions.
- Experience analyzing logs and system behavior to validate complex workflows.
- Experience with simulation-based testing environments.
- Familiarity with AI tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude) for development or debugging workflows.
- Experience testing complex systems (e.g., mobile apps, distributed systems).
- Exposure to system-level or integration-level validation.
- Pre‑tax commuter benefits.
- Employer (Hire Art) subsidized healthcare benefits (eligibility begins on the first of the month following 60 days of service).
- Flexible Spending Account for healthcare-related costs.
- Hire Art covers all costs for short- and long-term disability and life insurance.
- 401k package.
This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the San Diego, CA area.
