$85,000.00 – $ per year. Actual starting pay varies based on factors including location, experience, skills, specialty, and education. Eligible for Annual Discretionary Cash Bonus (10%) and Restricted Stock Units Bonus (10%). These bonuses may be awarded semi‑annually based on performance goals.

Axos Bank is seeking an experienced product‑oriented Senior Software Developer to join our software engineering team on‑site at any of our office locations nationwide. This role focuses on building the next generation of our online banking application using full‑stack AI development: interactive web applications with .NET, Java, Angular and/or React, REST/SOAP web services, and vendor API integration. The goal is to create a seamless, all‑in‑one experience for our customers with a complete 360° view of their financials.

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure to meet evolving client and business requirements.
• Advise developers on best practices for backend software development, architecture, and code quality.
• Participate in all phases of the software engineering lifecycle: design, development, testing, deployment, and troubleshooting of complex backend systems.
• Participate in sprint planning to review requirements, estimate effort, and define backend implementation tasks.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate challenges into scalable backend and data‑oriented technical specifications, including AI‑driven solutions.
• Deliver scalable, secure, and production‑grade backend and AI‑enabled applications on cloud platforms.
• Write clean, efficient, scalable, and well‑documented backend code and services.
• Stay current with the latest advancements in backend architectures, cloud technologies, and AI/ML, and advocate for adopting appropriate tools and patterns.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of hands‑on .NET backend development experience building enterprise‑grade services, APIs (REST/SOAP), background jobs, and integrations with third‑party/vendor systems.
• Experience in the financial services or banking industry.
• Strong experience designing and implementing distributed systems, microservices, and service‑oriented architectures.
• Proficiency with .NET Framework/.NET Core/.NET 8+, C#, SQL Server, Entity Framework, Web API, messaging or eventing systems, Swagger/OpenAPI, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Hands‑on experience with AI/LLM‑powered backend services, workflows, or developer platforms (e.g., Lang Chain or similar orchestration frameworks).
• Strong experience with database design, query optimization, transaction management, and performance tuning.
• Solid understanding of authentication, authorization, security best practices, and data protection concepts.
• Strong understanding of Agile methodologies and engineering best practices.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment, manage multiple priorities independently, and own backend deliverables.
• Strong understanding of object‑oriented design, SOLID principles, and common design patterns.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain backend architectures and technical tradeoffs to non‑technical stakeholders.

• Experience building cloud‑native backend services on managed cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, or GCP).
• Exposure to low‑code/no‑code platforms such as Out Systems, particularly for backend integration or service orchestration (willingness to learn).
• Experience with cloud‑based AI services (Azure AIFoundry, Azure OpenAI, or Google Vertex AI) from a backend integration perspective.
• Familiarity with observability, logging, monitoring, and alerting platforms for backend systems.
• Experience working with geographically dispersed teams.
