Responsibilities- Help to build robust, highly scalable services that support millions of users as part of the Energy Services Engineering team.
- Participate in early development investigations, prototypes, and 3rd‑party integrations.
- Collaborate with passionate problem solvers, designing and building impactful, best‑in‑class services for one of Apple’s most innovative spaces.
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or 3+ years of equivalent industry experience.
- Extensive experience architecting, building, and maintaining mission‑critical distributed systems at large scales.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals and trade‑offs in consistency, latency, and throughput.
- Commitment to engineering excellence, continuous improvement, and the curiosity to evaluate and advocate for new technologies and patterns.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to drive consensus on complex technical concepts with diverse audiences.
- Track record of building and sustaining healthy long‑term relationships and technical influence within your team and beyond.
- Tenacity and perseverance to lead complex projects from conception to production.
- Experience using generative AI tools throughout the software development lifecycle to produce high‑quality software.
- Ability to work with cross‑functional partners to define product objectives.
- Passion for people, code, and improving our future.
- Deep hands‑on software development experience with Java or Kotlin and Spring.
- Proven development and operational experience with high‑volume REST and/or gRPC services (server‑to‑server or mobile client‑facing).
- Strong experience designing for containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Significant experience architecting, building, and operating cloud‑native applications (AWS) with resilience, failover, and self‑healing core features.
- Expertise in designing robust CI/CD pipelines and defining infrastructure as code.
- Extensive experience with observability strategies and tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Open Telemetry, Datadog).
- Deep understanding of modern networking and experience using traffic tools for tracing and debugging.
- Fundamental appreciation for and understanding of security, privacy, and cryptography (PKI, certificate management, JWT).
- Hands‑on experience optimizing SQL/No
SQL databases for scale (Aurora, Dynamo
DB, Cockroach
DB, Oracle). - Domain knowledge of the utility industry, electrical grid or renewable energy.
- Base pay range: $171,600 – $258,100 (determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location).
