Amazon Security (AmSec) is looking for a Software Development Engineer to join a team of highly skilled individuals working on our initiatives in resource and application discovery within Amazon security. Our product, Veritas, is a foundational service that discovers all the resources owned by Amazon and the interconnections between them, enabling security reviews, threat modeling and detection, access control and incident response.
As a Software Development Engineer, you will design, build, and scale both front‑end frameworks and back‑end APIs and services. You will collaborate with engineers and leaders across the organization, drive product vision and lead technical implementation, and influence design decisions in a large, global organization.
Key Responsibilities- Influence product strategy by defining features, refining architecture, and spearheading best practices.
- Design and implement critical‑path code, work independently, and collaborate on design reviews with senior engineers.
- Deliver high‑quality, secure, testable, maintainable, and efficient software with minimal defects.
- Focus on operational excellence, analyzing system health and performance, including graph database cluster management and ETL/API performance.
- Work on complex system software, customer‑centric solutions, and ensure software achieves operational goals.
- Design and build features to enhance existing applications.
- Handle ad‑hoc requests and bug fixes.
- Participate in documentation reviews with product managers and stakeholders.
- Support and delegate tickets while on‑call.
- Attend team meetings and learning sessions.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience.
- 2+ years of design or architecture experience (design patterns, reliability, scaling).
- Experience programming with at least one programming language.
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Base salary range: – USD annually (USA, CA, San Diego). Sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs) are included. Final compensation is determined by experience, qualifications, and location.
