About The Role

Software Engineer to be part of Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) team based in San Diego, CA.

Work with a fast‑paced team to solve Navy challenges; design, build, test, and deliver secure and fully integrated software solutions for complex, mission‑critical systems in the US Department of Defense.

• All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active Secret U.S. Security Clearance.
• This is an on‑site position requiring at least 4 days in office, based in San Diego, CA.

• Design, integrate, troubleshoot, test, deliver and update software code in various languages, documenting architectures, processes and techniques to operate and sustain end items.
• Work closely with cross‑functional teams (software, systems, integration, information, production and test engineers, SMEs) to understand requirements, workflows, and develop front‑ and back‑end features and architecture.
• Adhere to government and industry security, reliability, performance standards; apply orthodox programming paradigms; interpret and apply DoD and industry standards; participate in peer reviews, configuration, design, and performance reviews.
• Apply common tools, approaches and best engineering practices, including building, maintaining, and troubleshooting Jenkins pipelines; integrating third‑party and externally developed software into container runtime environments; configuring and validating software components for Kubernetes; integrating with internal systems and third‑party applications; assisting with containerization, configuration management, and customization of vendor or open‑source software.

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, aeronautical engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years experience with one or more of:
  Git or similar version control; C++, Python, Java, JavaScript; container concepts (Docker/OCI/Podman images, registries); SQL and relational databases (Postgres);
  Linux command‑line and file/system permissions;
  React or similar modern frontend frameworks.
• Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

• 1+ year experience with front‑end development.
• Experience with visualization and human interface development, DEVSECOPS, remote monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, cloud computing, virtualization, containerization, networking (TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS), APIs, scripting (Groovy, Python, Bash, Power Shell), big data solutions, machine learning / AI.
• Desire to stay current with industry trends and best practices; openness to new tools and concepts, showing initiative, innovation and creativity.
• Strong communication, reporting and documentation skills.
• Problem‑solving skills with ability to navigate ambiguous situations.
• Strong analytical abilities, sense of ownership, urgency and drive.

$90,000 - $150,000 or $114,000 - $184,000 per year.
