Position: Software Engineer I

Exemption Status

United States of America (Non-Exempt)

Pay Range: $31.48 - $42.50 - $53.52

Job Summary

The Software Engineer I works within the Application Development & Support team to provide software programming for new software, production support and maintenance for existing software, as well as ad‑hoc support of key departmental business areas, databases, applications, and tools that drive business functions. The Software Engineer I works under close supervision and with detailed instruction from management or lead software engineers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Gain a thorough understanding of functional requirements for new software requests.
  • Program, design, test, document, and deploy code to meet defined requirements.
  • Practice good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensure robustness and efficiency of work products.
  • Partner with the software team in the development of software engineering processes.
  • Work to identify and resolve technical or product problems.
  • Participate in software project meetings and provide status reports.
Education and Experience

AA and 4+ years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills
  • Good knowledge and experience of Python, Java or other modern object‑oriented programming languages.
  • Good knowledge and experience of API/Microservices architecture, object‑oriented design and programming.
  • Good knowledge and experience of modern web application development frameworks such as Angular, React, JavaScript, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Hibernate, J2EE.
  • Good knowledge and experience of modern RDBMS products (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.) and SQL programming language.
  • Good knowledge and experience with Unix/Linux, scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.), Kubernetes, Dev Ops (Jenkins and CI/CD).
  • Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Experience in Agile software development lifecycle. Familiar with JIRA/Confluence tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on project teams and/or matrix‑managed teams.
  • Ability to appropriately schedule and prioritize multiple projects to ensure timely and effective delivery of IT solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with emphasis on translating technical concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Prefer familiarity with PBM business model and pharmaceutical practices.
