Software Engineer – Mid-Level (Systems & Communications)
G2 Software Systems, Inc. (G2) is seeking a motivated, innovative, and driven Mid‑Level Software Engineer (Systems & Communications) to join our dynamic development team supporting cutting‑edge defense initiatives.
About the RoleAs a Software Engineer at G2, you will be embedded within Government Laboratories, supporting the development of mission‑critical software systems and communication technologies. You will contribute to the full software development lifecycle, collaborating with cross‑functional teams to design, develop, integrate, and deliver solutions that support national defense objectives.
Responsibilities- Contribute to software development projects from concept through final product delivery.
- Design, develop, and implement software features and capabilities.
- Collaborate with backend and Dev Sec Ops engineers to integrate software components into operational systems.
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to understand mission requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high software quality standards.
- Support development and evaluation of proof‑of‑concept solutions.
- Contribute to system integration efforts within communications and interoperability environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
- 3‑5 years of software development experience with a primary focus on C and C++.
- 3‑5 years of software development, software integration, and/or systems engineering experience.
- Proficiency working in Linux operating environments.
- Familiarity with the Qt framework.
- Strong understanding of Object‑Oriented Programming (OOP), software design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
- Experience with Open Systems Architecture (OSA) standards.
- Experience with communications technologies and standards such as:
- Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
- Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP)
- Active DoW Secret clearance, with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance.
- Experience with Open Systems Architecture (OSA) standards, specifically: SOSA, FACE, and SCA 4.1.
- Active DoW TS/SCI clearance.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate each department at G2 and at the assigned client facilities.
This is a full‑time, on‑site position based in San Diego, CA, with minimal travel up to 10%.
Compensation and BenefitsThe compensation range for this position in California is $100,000/year to $120,000/year, depending on your expertise and market conditions.
