Associate Software Engineer – Cubic Defense
Location:
San Diego
Cubic Defense’s Secure Communications solutions deliver adaptive and resilient communications for contested future battle spaces. The role focuses on developing and maintaining mission‑critical software that supports Multi‑beam, Multi‑band SATCOM, Software‑Defined Radios, and protected waveforms across Windows and embedded Linux environments.
Responsibilities- Coordinate and develop project concepts, objectives, specifications, and resource requirements.
- Prepare, code (C++), and design software enhancements utilizing Socket API programming in Linux and Windows.
- Participate in the design, development, planning, modification, and testing of application software (C++) for Windows
10 and embedded Linux. - Recommend test control strategies, apparatus, and equipment for multi‑processor applications.
- Test and document results, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Conceptualize, develop, and analyze engineering designs, specifications, and test plans for systems and equipment based on customer or contract requirements.
- Research design concepts and feasibility using advanced technical theory to resolve software/hardware and target OS issues.
- Investigate programming system failures and design solutions.
- Perform complex design and programming analysis.
- Maintain liaison with customers, coordinators, subcontractors, and vendor representatives.
- Monitor project status and progress, measuring system performance.
- Stay abreast of improvements in software engineering practices.
- Identify software engineering process improvements and support their execution across the organization.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Assume additional technical responsibilities as needed.
- University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 3 months work experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or a Master’s degree without experience, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in specification, design, and development of embedded software systems.
- Proficiency with programming languages such as Java, C/C++/C#, and experience with product lifecycle management tools.
- Eligibility for a DoD security clearance.
$92,000.00 – $ + benefits.
