Backend Developer, AI Engineer (Applied/Software), Full Stack Developer, AWS
We are seeking a Full-Stack Platform Developer to join our team and lead the development of the next generation of our genomic data platform. This is a hands‑on, cloud‑native role spanning the full stack—from scalable backend data infrastructure to the APIs and user‑facing applications that sit on top of it. Working in a predominantly cloud‑based environment (e.g., AWS), you will take promising research prototypes and ML/AI proofs‑of‑concept and engineer them into robust, maintainable systems, and deliver intuitive interfaces for both internal research and clinical teams and external customers.
You will be capable of independently architecting, documenting, and delivering platform components end‑to‑end—backend, API, and frontend—working closely with research, clinical, and IT infrastructure stakeholders across our US and Korea offices.
- Design, architect, and develop next‑generation cloud platform components across the full stack, from concept to production.
- Build well‑structured APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL) and responsive, user‑facing web applications for both internal research/clinical tools and external customer‑facing products.
- Re‑engineer ML/AI proofs‑of‑concept and research prototypes into robust, maintainable, production‑grade systems.
- Produce clear engineering artifacts—system design documents, architecture and data flow diagrams, and delivery roadmaps.
- Establish engineering best practices (version control, testing, CI/CD, infrastructure‑as‑code, documentation) and collaborate with research, clinical, and IT infrastructure teams to deliver solutions that integrate cleanly into the broader company platform.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Bioinformatics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of professional full‑stack development experience delivering production systems in the cloud.
- Strong, hands‑on experience building both backend services and frontend applications, connected through well‑designed APIs (e.g., REST, GraphQL), with proficiency in a modern frontend framework (e.g., React, Vue, or similar).
- Demonstrated ability to re‑engineer prototype or research‑grade code into scalable, maintainable production systems.
- Proven ability to produce clear technical design documentation, architecture diagrams, and roadmaps.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both engineering and scientific stakeholders, independently leading initiatives end‑to‑end within a geographically distributed team.
- Experience with genomic data formats and NGS/WGS data production, transfer, and storage (e.g., FASTQ, BAM/CRAM, VCF).
- Experience bringing analytical methods into production alongside research or data science teams, including deploying ML/data science workloads (MLOps).
- Experience building natural language or LLM/AI agent‑based interfaces over structured data (e.g., text‑to‑SQL, retrieval‑augmented querying).
- In‑depth familiarity with AWS data and genomics services (e.g., Health Omics, S3, Athena, Glue), and experience building scalable data platforms in the cloud.
- Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code (e.g., Terraform, Cloud Formation), containerization (Docker), and CI/CD practices.
