Hire Art is helping an on‑demand, autonomous ride‑hailing company find a System Test Engineer – Autonomy to support the data validation, reporting, and issue‑tracking processes that enable autonomous driving systems.
In this role, you’ll help ensure the accuracy and readiness of mapping data used by autonomous vehicles by supporting validation workflows, maintaining critical datasets, and coordinating issue resolution across engineering teams. You'll play a key role in keeping testing and deployment activities aligned with high standards for data quality and system performance.
The ideal candidate is a detail‑oriented, technically curious engineer or analyst with strong organizational skills and experience using Python to automate workflows and improve data quality.
As a System Test Engineer – Autonomy, You'll- Coordinate weekly cross‑functional triage meetings, tracking mapping issues, software defects, and data discrepancies through resolution.
- Execute the weekly mapping validation process, ensuring mapping updates meet established quality and deployment criteria.
- Maintain and audit internal datasets that support software validation and mapping deployment readiness.
- Monitor mapping coverage, quality metrics, and deployment status, creating reports that provide visibility into program health and progress.
- Track project milestones and performance metrics to support autonomy software release timelines.
- Develop and maintain Python scripts that automate data validation, reporting, and workflow improvements.
- Partner with engineering teams to investigate issues, maintain data integrity, and improve validation processes.
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a technical, analytical, or STEM‑related field
- 1+ years of experience in systems testing, data operations, project coordination, or a related technical role
- Proficiency with Python for scripting, data manipulation, or workflow automation
- Experience using AI‑assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, Git Hub Copilot, or similar productivity tools
- Experience working with issue tracking and documentation tools such as Jira, Confluence, SQL, Excel, or Google Sheets
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage recurring technical workflows with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in autonomous vehicles, robotics, GIS, HD mapping, or related technical fields
- Experience supporting software validation, mapping operations, or systems integration

This is a full‑time, ongoing contract position staffed via Hire Art. It will be onsite and available to candidates who are local to the San Diego, CA area.
