The County of San Diego is seeking experienced and motivated individuals to join the Department of Public Works, Airports Division as an Airport Operations Coordinator.
Interviews will begin the week of April 6, 2026.
Future Salary Increases- June 2026 – 4.49% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)
- June 2027 – 4.49% increase to base pay (3.0% Across-the-Board + 1.49% Market Adjustment)
This position is eligible for appointment at step 1, $84,260.80 annually. County Employees are subject to the County promotional rule for step placement in accordance with comp Ord 1.3.5.
The County of San Diego is currently accepting job applications for Airport Operations Coordinator to fill multiple immediate vacancies within the county's airport system. Positions will be primarily located at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, CA, or at the Ramona Airport in Ramona, CA, but will also travel to the other six County of San Diego Airports. Under the direction of the Assistant Airport Manager, this position plans, organizes, and supervises airside and landside operations; monitors airports for compliance with federal, state and local laws; issues NOTAMs for surface closures and condition reporting as appropriate; mitigates wildlife hazards; responds to emergencies and assists with the coordination of emergency activities. This position also reviews and acts on matters involving safety, security, customer service, certification, and other related matters as they impact aircraft operators, airlines, tenants, and passengers.

Minimum QualificationsAn associate's degree from an accredited U.S. college or university, or a certified foreign studies equivalency in airport/aviation management or a closely related field; AND, two (2) years of full-time experience at an airport performing airport operations or airport management duties.
